Ziri Rideaux has worked as a filmmaker, photographer and TV-journalist for the past 20 years, often in war areas such as Bosnia, Afghanistan, Rwanda and Somalia. Her latest work, the TV-series COWGIRLS (ZDF/ARTE) is currently being broadcasted in 10 European countries.
Her previous documentary CURLERS AGAINST MISERY (Kabul 2003, ARD) was picked up at the Cannes Film Festival 2004 by TV stations worldwide (incl. USA/Sundance Channel) after premiering on German and French Television.
Her feature film BACKGAMMON premiered at Cannes 2000, winning the Cannes Independent Award (presented to Rideaux by Prince Albert of Monaco). It also won the Best Feature Film Award at the New York International Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. and internationally by Vanguard Cinema.
